Firefighters are currently battling a grassfire between Bear Creek and Ovilla Road.
Effective immediately, The Ellis County Commissioners’ Court has ordered that a Burn Ban is instituted and in effect for Ellis County, Texas, relative to all outdoor burning and the sale or use of restricted fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Ellis County.

With a large area of dry air settling over North Texas, we could see an increased risk of grass fires in Ellis County. If you do spot a grass fire, please inform local law enforcement or fire department immediately.
When informing a dispatcher of a possible emergency, please be sure to tell them an exact location (ex: North-bound Interstate 35, just south of the Ovilla Road exit). This is not only helpful to the 911 emergency dispatchers, but will also increase the response time for fire personnel and reduce the amount of loss overall!
