Welcome to the new school year, a time for us to get back into our routines and daily schedules and get out of the vacation mindset once again. Hopefully, this will also soon begin weather constantly under one-hundred degrees, but it’s not looking like that will happen this week.

As the school year begins once again, please remember that you can receive a ticket for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle in a school zone and on school property.

ECI would like to thank all of the emergency personnel who have spent countless hours protecting our communities during this extreme weather period.

We would also like to welcome all the new faces to the ECI online community. We look forward to being able to deliver to you important information during major incidents that happen within the county. THE LATEST (8/24/11)

1) We’ve updated our radar software to include high-resolution radar feeds from Dallas Love Field (TDAL) and Dallas Fort Worth Intl. (TDFW) These give us a better look at storms as they approach our area.

2) We’re also trying a new piece of technology that was released in June for our radar program that places SCIT data (Storm Cell Identification and Tracking) information, which gives us a little bit more information about the storms, including wind gusts, hail size, tornadic activity, etc. This software also places storm tracks on the radar so we can see how far the storm will move in 15 minute increments.

We hope these new improvements will help further prepare the communities in Ellis County for the upcoming storm season.
